Eight Tips to Help Your Photographer Capture Stunning Bridal Detail Photos
One of our favorite ways to begin a wedding day is by capturing photos of your wedding details! It’s the perfect way to spark our creativity for the rest of the day. We take great care to photograph a couple’s details in a way that complements and highlights the overall style of the wedding. These details set the stage for the entire event, and we love having plenty of time to artfully arrange and capture these elements that collectively create the perfect backdrop for your special day.
Gather All Your Details Ahead of Time
To ensure no time is wasted on your wedding day, collect all the essential items in advance. These include your invitation suite, all three rings (make sure the gentlemen don't have them in the morning), something old, new, borrowed, and blue, your perfume, jewelry, shoes, and welcome gifts.
Bring Two Complete Sets of Your Invitation Suite
This means including everything: envelopes, RSVP cards and envelopes, and any detail cards you’ve included. This is especially important for capturing all the elements if anything is double-sided or has special touches like an envelope liner or a unique address.
Bonus Tip for Privacy
Consider using a fake address on an envelope to avoid sharing personal information online. If possible, have a calligrapher address it for an extra touch of elegance.
Include Wedding Day Items
Elevate your detail photos by including items from other parts of your wedding day, such as menus, place cards, and favors. These small details help tell the complete story of your day.
Request Extra Loose Stems from Your Florist
Ask your florist to provide some additional loose stems for styling. Inform your photographer about these extra elements so they can incorporate them into the shots without missing out on any detail.
Add Some Extra Wedding Color Items
Enhance your photos with a few additional items in your wedding colors, such as silk ribbons or a velvet ring box. These can add a beautiful, cohesive touch to your detail shots.
Communicate with Your Photographer
Detail photos are time-consuming. Discuss with your photographer how many details you have so you can set realistic expectations for how long this part of the day will take. Balancing the elements in each image and making them look natural requires time and skill.
Allow Adequate Time for Detail Photos
Creating beautiful detail photos isn’t quick work. Ensure you allocate enough time in your schedule for your photographer to capture these shots properly. Balancing a ring at just the right angle or arranging a ribbon naturally takes patience and precision.
By following these tips, you'll help your photographer capture stunning bridal detail photos that beautifully showcase all the special elements of your wedding day.
